Affordable Housing
Arizona State University is committed to providing on-campus housing for first year students and as many continuing students as possible. We create opportunities and experiences for our residential students that extend beyond the physical structure to add enhanced value to the overall ASU experience. ASU has kept rate increases to a minimum - far lower than surrounding properties in the cities where we have a presence. University resources include an off-campus housing marketplace, special deals with apartment and home rental companies, and on-campus family housing. Employees and students can participate in regional housing programs in Tempe, Mesa, Phoenix, Scottsdale and Glendale. ASU also engages with the community to meet regional affordable housing needs. ASU student housing is lower than equivalent non-university market-rate housing.
Previously developed land
ASU has a long history of innovating previously developed land into campus facilities. As the university has grown, previous buildings have been replaced with larger modern facilities. The largest scale example of this is the former Williams Air Force Base, which was redesigned into ASU’s Polytechnic campus. Currently, the former Wilson Hall is being replaced by a new academic building.
